Our Investment Approach
At AVC, transparency, partnership, and discipline are cornerstones of every investment. We originate deals directly, often through long-term relationships built with founders and operators across Australia.
Every transaction begins with alignment—on values, ambition, and vision. We don’t invest unless the founder is equally committed to the journey ahead. We partner on equal terms, typically acquiring 50% of the business with clear pathways to control via M&A.
AVC takes an active role in delivering strategy. We provide operational support, bring in bench strength where needed, and hold teams accountable to an agreed plan. Our governance model is practical, respectful, and built on trust.
We work with business owners, not around them.
Investment Philosophy
We invest exclusively in essential B2B service companies—businesses that are hard to turn off. Our portfolio spans waste management, infrastructure services, health, and non-bank financials.
AVC targets businesses with:
- Cash-generative operations and long histories of profitability
- Defensive market positions in fragmented industries
- EBITDA of $3-8 million and enterprise values of $20-50 million
- Founders we believe in, with credible plans for growth
We avoid technology, retail, or cyclical exposures. We never rely on leverage upfront, preferring to fund growth organically or via bolt-ons. Our approach is simple: buy well, grow strategically, and exit intelligently.

The team enjoys rolling up their sleeves to help develop and implement investee company value creation plans. They work supportively and collaboratively with founders to put systems in place to enable sustainable growth.
